ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik held separate meetings with global energy companies to discuss investment opportunities in Pakistan’s energy and critical minerals sectors.
The minister met Morgan Hughes Energy President Gregory Bloom and Tejara Capital CEO Ahmad Waleed to discuss expanding US investment.
Bloom highlighted Balochistan’s potential for critical minerals development. He said Morgan Hughes Energy and Tejara Capital were partnering on mineral projects.
The companies are also exploring opportunities in Pakistan’s oil and gas sector. Their interests include field optimisation to increase production from existing energy assets.
Ali Pervaiz welcomed the companies’ interest and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to increasing domestic energy production. He also pledged support for responsible foreign investment through cooperation with relevant stakeholders.
Vitol Discusses Gwadar Bunkering and Storage Plans
In a separate meeting, the minister met Vitol Asia CEO Kieran Gallagher and his delegation to review cooperation in Pakistan’s petroleum sector.
The minister congratulated Vitol on starting bunkering operations at Gwadar. He also welcomed the company’s proposal to convert High Sulphur Fuel Oil into Very Light Sulphur Fuel Oil.
Moreover, Ali Pervaiz assured full government support for the proposed project. The meeting also examined investment opportunities under Pakistan’s new bonded storage policy.
The minister said Pakistan was discussing bonded storage infrastructure with major global energy companies, including Vitol. Consequently, the government aims to strengthen energy logistics and expand strategic storage capacity.
Both meetings highlighted Pakistan’s efforts to attract international investment, strengthen energy partnerships and improve long-term energy security.
