Three Motorway Police officers died early Monday after a passenger bus ran over their patrol vehicle near Uch Sharif on the M5 Motorway. Officials described the crash as a deeply tragic and avoidable incident. The Motorway Police spokesperson said the accident occurred near location 662 when a bus travelling from Karachi to Multan struck the police mobile from behind. The collision proved fatal and left all three officers dead on the spot.
The officers were identified as Sub-Inspector Muhammad Mushtaq, Assistant Sub-Inspector Nasir Abbas, and Constable Osama. They were returning home after completing their duty shift. Rescue teams, along with the sector commander and DSP, reached the site immediately and launched relief efforts.

Emergency responders worked throughout the morning to secure the crash site and remove debris. The Motorway Police confirmed that rescue operations continued as authorities cleared the affected section. Officials said the passenger bus involved in the crash was on its scheduled Karachi-to-Multan route when it ploughed into the patrol vehicle. Investigators are assessing the circumstances that led to the deadly collision.
Leaders Express Grief Over the Tragedy
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the three officers. She extended condolences to their families and offered prayers for strength and patience. She said the officersโ sacrifice would be remembered and directed authorities to support the grieving families during this difficult period.
Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan also conveyed his grief and paid tribute to the officers. He called them brave men who lost their lives while performing their duties. He assured the public that a complete and transparent investigation would be conducted to determine the exact cause of the accident. He pledged full support for the families of the martyrs and offered prayers for their elevated ranks.
