ISLAMABAD: In the Henley Passport Index 2026, the ranking of Pakistan has slightly improved. Pakistan has improved two places to 101st on the Henley Passport Index 2026. Hence, Pakistani passport holders can have visa-free access to 29 destinations.
In 2025, the country ranked 103rd, showing a modest improvement in global travel mobility this year. However, Pakistan’s passport remains among the world’s weakest travel document.
It ranks just above Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan, which occupy the bottom four positions. Afghanistan holds the lowest position with access to 22 destinations.
Henley & Partners assessed 199 passports and 227 destinations for the latest ranking. The index measures passport strength according to destinations accessible without securing a visa before travel.
However, the firm noted that travel bans can sometimes override visa information listed in the index.
Regional Rivals Continue to Outperform Pakistan
Pakistan continues to trail several regional countries despite its improved ranking. India ranked 81st with access to 55 destinations.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh secured 97th position with 35 destinations, while Nepal ranked 98th with 34. Therefore, Pakistan remains behind all three regional peers in visa-free travel access.
Singapore retained the top position with a score of 192. Japan followed with 188, while South Korea and the UAE shared the next position.
Sweden ranked third with 187, while several European nations shared fourth place with 186.
The index uses exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association. Moreover, Henley & Partners maintains two decades of historical records tracking global passport mobility trends.
