Yemen’s Houthis claimed Saturday that they launched attacks against targets in Saudi Arabia.
The group said it targeted “sensitive sites” in Riyadh and Aramco facilities in the port city of Yanbu.
The claim came hours after residents reported explosions in the Saudi capital.
Houthis Claim Two Military Operations
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the attacks were carried out in response to Saudi strikes on Yemen’s capital, Sanaa.
According to Saree, the Houthi forces used ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones.
He said the first operation targeted sensitive sites in Riyadh.
The second operation targeted Aramco facilities in Yanbu.
The claims could not immediately be independently verified.
Fire Reported Near Riyadh Airport
The Houthi statement followed a fire at a fuel depot near Riyadh’s international airport.
An AFP journalist reported seeing firefighters extinguish flames from a fuel tank carrying the logo of Saudi oil giant Aramco.
The incident occurred after Saudi authorities issued an overnight air raid alert.
Residents in Riyadh later reported hearing several explosions across parts of the capital.
It was the first such warning reported since fighting in neighbouring Yemen intensified this month.
Flight Operations Disrupted
FlightRadar24 reported major disruptions at Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport following the reported incidents.
Normal flight activity later began to resume.
The reported disruption added to concerns over aviation and security in the Saudi capital.
