A special investigation committee has identified domestic worker Zeeshan Arshad as the prime suspect in the murder of Hina Javed in Rawalpindi. The team completed its reinvestigation following directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
According to investigation team sources, forensic findings linked Zeeshan to evidence recovered from the victim. However, Hina’s family has rejected the findings and raised concerns about the investigation’s impartiality.
Forensic Evidence Cited in Investigation
Sources said skin particles recovered from beneath Hina’s fingernails matched Zeeshan’s DNA. Investigators also questioned Zeeshan and Hina’s husband, Faisal Asghar, multiple times during the inquiry.
The team further claimed that Zeeshan had a criminal record involving other serious cases. Investigators alleged that he confessed to assaulting and strangling Hina with a bedsheet.
These claims have emerged from the investigation team’s account. A court must determine criminal responsibility through the legal process.
Family Raises Concerns Over Investigation
Hina’s family has expressed a lack of confidence in the committee’s findings. Relatives have alleged that evidence was tampered with and questioned whether investigators examined every aspect of the case fairly.
The family has previously demanded an independent and transparent investigation. The reported findings have therefore intensified the dispute between the investigation team and Hina’s relatives.
Husband and Domestic Worker in Judicial Custody
Hina’s husband, Faisal Asghar, and Zeeshan remain in Adiala Jail on judicial remand in connection with the case.
The murder case was registered at Civil Lines Police Station in Rawalpindi. Hina’s body was discovered at her residence in the Lal Kurti area in August.
According to the first information report, her hands were tied behind her back, a cloth had been placed in her mouth, and a wire was tied around her neck.
The investigation committee has completed its inquiry and returned to Lahore, according to sources. The case remains under legal scrutiny as the family continues to seek accountability and a fair trial.
