The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced a revised admission procedure for MBBS and BDS students from Balochistan and the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), introducing important changes for the 2026-27 academic session.
Under the new arrangement, students seeking admission through HEC’s scholarship programme must apply directly to their preferred medical and dental universities. The commission will no longer handle admissions or seat placements under this scheme.
The revised procedure applies to the project titled Provision of Higher Education Opportunities for the Students of Balochistan and Erstwhile FATA (Phase-III). It will remain applicable for the 2026-27 academic session and subsequent admissions.
According to HEC, universities will independently manage admission applications, seat allocations and student placements. All decisions must follow Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) regulations and approved seat allocations.
However, HEC will continue providing financial assistance to eligible students selected through its merit-based scholarship process.
The commission clarified that receiving an HEC scholarship does not automatically guarantee admission to a medical or dental institution. Similarly, securing university admission does not automatically qualify a student for scholarship funding.
Applicants must therefore complete both processes separately and satisfy all relevant eligibility requirements.
Students have been advised to visit the official admission portals of their preferred universities and carefully review application deadlines, required documents and admission criteria.
The revised procedure aims to clarify institutional responsibilities and streamline medical and dental admissions.
HEC has urged applicants to follow official university announcements to avoid missing important admission opportunities.
