The Higher Education Commission (HEC) announced a significant step to assist millions of refugees in Pakistan by introducing German scholarships specifically for Afghan refugees residing in the country.
In an official statement released on Saturday, the HEC extended an invitation to female Afghan refugees to apply for the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) scholarships, offering a two-year Master’s degree program for eligible candidates.
These scholarships provide an opportunity for successful applicants to pursue their studies in Higher Education Commission-recognized universities in Pakistan during the academic year 2024. The initiative, generously funded by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, encompasses scholarships across all disciplines, emphasizing the promotion of academic and scientific progress by creating avenues for students to pursue advanced degrees.
To be eligible for these scholarships, female Afghan refugees residing in Pakistan must possess valid Proof of Registration (POR) cards issued by the Ministry of States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON). The application process is conducted online through the HEC’s website.

Applicants are required to have completed their undergraduate degree, equivalent to 16 years of education, from an HEC-recognized university with a minimum CGPA of 2.5. Additionally, candidates must be enrolled in the first semester of a two-year Master’s degree. It’s important to note that individuals awaiting their results are not eligible to apply for these scholarships.
