Pakistani Universities Shine in QS World Rankings 2024: Fourteen Institutions Make the Cut

Fourteen Pakistani universities, spanning both public and private sectors, have secured positions in the prestigious QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) world rankings for 2024.

According to the education network’s website, the 20th edition of the QS World University Rankings encompasses 1,500 institutions from 104 different locations worldwide. This year, the QS introduced three new criteria: sustainability, employment outcomes, and international research network, to offer a comprehensive assessment. These rankings serve as a valuable resource for prospective students seeking to identify the foremost universities globally.

In the top five positions, three universities from the United States shine prominently. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) leads the ranking with a perfect score of 100, followed closely by the University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, Harvard University, and Stanford University.

Other notable institutions include Imperial College London at sixth place, ETH Zurich at seventh, National University of Singapore at eighth, University College London (UCL) at ninth, and the University of California, Berkeley at tenth.

The fourteen Pakistani universities that have earned positions in the rankings are as follows:

  1. Quaid-i-Azam University (ranked 315 with an overall score of 33.4)
  2. National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) Islamabad (ranked 367 with an overall score of 30.2)
  3. Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) (ranked 540 with an overall score of 21.8)
  4. Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS)
  5. COMSATS University Islamabad
  6. University of Agriculture, Faisalabad
  7. University of the Punjab
  8. University of Engineering & Technology (UET) Lahore
  9. University of Peshawar
  10. The University of Lahore
  11. University of Karachi
  12. Bahauddin Zakariya University
  13. International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIU)
  14. National University of Modern Languages (NUML)
