Major Scam Exposed in Sindh Education Foundation

Sindh Education Foundation

HYDERABAD: A significant financial scandal has been exposed within the Sindh Education Foundation (SEF), revealing a massive misappropriation of funds intended for educational subsidies.

According to a report, on Friday, the scandal involves the release of billions of rupees in subsidies to various schools across Sindh, raising serious concerns about the integrity of the Foundation’s financial management.

The audit report, which has brought this issue to light, details severe violations of laws and regulations concerning the distribution of subsidy funds.

Specifically, it was revealed that over Rs. 8,532 million were disbursed as subsidies to school owners, despite the fact that many of these institutions had expired registrations and National Tax Numbers (NTNs).

This disbursement occurred in clear defiance of established guidelines and regulatory policies.

Adding to the gravity of the situation, the report underscores that these funds were distributed without adequate verification of critical documentation.

The enrollment and attendance records of the 27 schools in question were not properly checked before the funds were released.

This lack of due diligence represents a serious breach of procedural norms and raises substantial questions about the oversight and accountability mechanisms within the SEF.

The audit report characterizes these actions as a severe breach of the code of conduct and has called for an immediate and thorough investigation into the matter.

The report emphasizes the necessity of holding those responsible for these violations accountable and implementing measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.

This scandal not only highlights the potential misuse of public funds but also underscores the urgent need for reforms in the financial management practices of educational institutions.

The SEF, which is tasked with supporting and enhancing the educational infrastructure in Sindh, now faces intense scrutiny and pressure to address these serious lapses and restore public trust.
