PESHAWAR: In a move to prioritize the educational environment, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) government has taken a decisive step by announcing a ban on the use of mobile phones in schools across the province.
The Directorate of Education Department in KPK has communicated this decision to all education officers in the districts, instructing them to enforce the prohibition on mobile phone usage during school hours.
The Department of Education has underscored the potential disruption to students’ studies caused by the use of mobile phones during instructional periods, leading to the implementation of this ban within classrooms. As part of the measure, the heads of educational institutions will collect mobile phones from all staff members at the commencement of each school day.
Furthermore, the directive outlines that in cases of emergencies, staff members should resort to using the school head’s landline or mobile phone for communication. Mobile phones are only permitted for use by staff during designated free times, and any use for capturing pictures or videos necessitates prior permission from the institution’s heads, according to the directive.
This initiative aims to create a conducive and focused learning environment in KPK schools by minimizing potential distractions brought about by mobile phones during school hours. By enforcing these measures, the KPK government seeks to enhance the overall educational experience for students and promote an atmosphere conducive to effective teaching and learning.
