Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti has introduced a new graduate scholarship program for Baloch students to study at Oxford University.
The announcement was made during the prestigious annual Oxford Pakistan Programme Endowment Fund dinner in Oxford, UK. The event saw attendance from over 150 distinguished guests, including former caretaker Prime Minister and Senator Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge Professor Kamal Munir, senior education experts, Oxford University administrators, and prominent Pakistanis residing in the UK.
Chief Minister Bugti emphasized the critical role of higher education in strengthening democracy and promoting social progress. “This scholarship will be a milestone in training future leaders from Balochistan,” he stated.
He highlighted that the scholarship aims to bridge the educational gap and promote higher education, linking Balochistan’s local needs with global educational standards. “It will connect the local needs of Balochistan with global educational standards,” he added.
Bugti described the scholarship as more than just financial aid, but a means to empower young people from Balochistan. He expressed his gratitude to the Oxford Pakistan Programme and all partners involved in making this scholarship possible.
The new scholarship program is expected to provide talented Baloch students with the opportunity to pursue higher education at one of the world’s leading universities.
