ISLAMABAD: Imran Kishwar, the head of the May 9 Joint Investigation Team (JIT) and DIG Administration Lahore, has resigned from the police service, citing internal conflicts and disillusionment.
In his resignation letter, Kishwar expressed deep concerns about the challenges in his role.
“I have upheld my oath with unyielding resolve, often at great personal cost, leaving me grappling with many unanswered questions and an unsettling internal dissonance,” he wrote.
Kishwar stated that he had reached a crossroads where continuing in service was no longer feasible or desirable.
“The reasons, though personal, are strong enough to sever the bond I once held sacred. When met with indifference or betrayal, loyalty ceases to be an obligation,” he added.
May 9 Cases: PTI Leaders Re-Indicted
Meanwhile, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday re-indicted PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Yasmin Rashid, and others in cases related to the May 9 violence.
ATC Admin Judge Manzar Ali Gul conducted the hearing regarding vandalism near Jinnah House, with amendments made to the earlier indictment at the prosecution’s request.
PTI leaders, including Sanam Javed and Khadija Shah, rejected the charges, prompting the court to summon witnesses for the next hearing on March 6.
Former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, currently imprisoned in Adiala Jail, also faces additional charges in eight new cases linked to the May 9 riots.
