A police van from Tajori Police Station in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district was targeted by a suicide attacker on Monday, resulting in the martyrdom of a head constable and injuries to six other policemen.
According to police officials, two attackers were involved in the incident. One of them detonated himself near the police vehicle, while the second suspect managed to escape from the scene. Authorities said that seven policemen were inside the van at the time of the blast.
Head Constable Alauddin was martyred in the attack. The injured officials include Additional SHO Haq Nawaz, Shah Gulab, Anwar Kamal Ahmed, Naeemullah and Nasrullah. Two of the injured officers are reported to be in critical condition.
Rescue teams shifted the wounded personnel to the nearest hospital shortly after the explosion.
Police have cordoned off the area and collected evidence from the site. A search operation has been launched to trace the fleeing attacker and to determine whether any accomplices were involved.
