LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: PTI chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan said Hammad Azhar will be appointed President of PTI Punjab. Khan said that Dr Yasmin Rashid, the incumbent PTI Punjab President, was going through health problems and Hammad Azhar will be in a better position to manage the affairs of the party at Punjab level.
When PTI was in the government in center, Hammad Azhar was notified as Finance Minister, but the notification was withdrawn when Dr Hafeez Sheikh, who had replaced Assad Umer, raised objection to Hammad’s appointment as finance minister. Hafeez Sheikh was working as adviser to Prime Minister Imran Khan for Finance and upon his resistance, Hammad Azhar was appointed as Minister for Energy Division.

PTI chairman was talking to media in Lahore today, ahead of voting for the chief minister of Punjab. PTI has fielded Pervez Elahi for chief minister slot of the province while Hamza Shehbaz is a joint candidate of PML-N and its allied parties.
The Punjab Assembly session has started at 4:00 pm to vote for the new chief minister of the Punjab province. PTI-PML-Q are claiming support of 188 MPAs while PML-N is claiming support of 180 MPAs.
PML-N leader Rana Mashhood Hussain has claimed that only 175 MPAs of PTI have reached the Punjab Assembly.
Earlier, PTI chairman Imran Khan warned the government against any attempt of buying loyalties of PTI-Q League MPAs to influence result of election of the chief minister.
Khan said that the people will settle the score in case someone tried to manipulate the result of the Punjab CM’s election.
