A senior police officer has been transferred from his Hafizabad posting. The move followed a dispute involving a ruling party lawmaker’s son. Authorities reportedly removed BS-18 officer Kamran Hamid after an inquiry.
Inquiry Ordered Following Office Altercation
According to reports, the dispute occurred during a meeting at the DPO office. PML-N MPA Shahid Bhatti had visited the office with complainants. His son also accompanied him during the visit.
During the meeting, the MPA’s son reportedly entered the DPO’s retiring room. He allegedly used the washroom located inside the area. As he exited, the DPO questioned him about using the facility.
Reports suggest the officer considered the washroom part of his private space. However, the MPA’s son responded that it was a public office facility. Consequently, a verbal exchange took place between both sides.
The situation escalated when the officer allegedly asked the young man to leave. However, the MPA intervened and attempted to calm tensions. He then left the office with his son.
Social Media Debate Follows Transfer Decision
The incident quickly gained attention across Hafizabad. Subsequently, political workers and social media users discussed the matter extensively. A social media post referencing the dispute further intensified public interest.
Later, the MPA reportedly raised the issue with senior party leaders. Following directions from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Punjab Inspector General of Police Abdul Kareem conducted an inquiry.
After reviewing statements from both sides, the IGP submitted findings to the chief minister. Consequently, Kamran Hamid was transferred and posted to the Punjab Safe Cities Authority.
The episode sparked debate about public access to government office facilities. Meanwhile, some senior police officers reportedly supported Hamid and sought a more prominent posting for him.
