Pakistani singer and actress Hadiqa Kiani has returned to Sufi music with her latest release, “Ki Puchde O Haal Faqeera Da.”
The new track brings together poetry from Baba Bulleh Shah and Shiv Kumar Batalvi, adding a classical literary touch to Kiani’s latest musical offering.
Eva Kiani and Irfan Kiani have composed the music, while Abdullah Haris directed the accompanying music video.
Hadiqa Kiani’s New Sufi Song
“Ki Puchde O Haal Faqeera Da” draws on the work of two celebrated poets, Baba Bulleh Shah and Shiv Kumar Batalvi.
The combination gives the song a strong connection with South Asian poetic and Sufi traditions. Meanwhile, the music introduces the verses to Kiani’s contemporary audience.
The track’s music video was filmed in the scenic Northern Areas of Pakistan. Abdullah Haris directed the video, adding the country’s natural landscapes to the visual presentation.
From Pakistani Pop to Sufi Music
Hadiqa Kiani first rose to prominence during the 1990s through Pakistani pop music. She made her album debut with Raaz in 1996 before establishing herself as one of the country’s prominent singers.
Over the years, Kiani has released several popular songs that have remained closely associated with her career.
Her well-known tracks include “Boohey Bariyan,” “Hona Tha Pyar” with Atif Aslam, “Janan,” “Chaap Tilak,” “Jaanay Iss Dil” and “Kamli.”
Her discography also includes albums such as Roshni, Rung, Aasmaan, Wajd and Vasl.
