A petition seeking legal action against Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman was filed in Gujranwala. The application was submitted before the Sessions Judge on Tuesday. Advocate Manzoor Qadir Bhinder filed the petition requesting the court’s intervention.
The petitioner urged authorities to register a criminal case against the senior politician. Furthermore, the application cited several legal provisions supporting the requested action. It accused Fazlur Rehman of spreading disorder and creating chaos through his public statements.
According to the petition, the JUI-F leader used derogatory language against Pakistan Army martyrs during a speech. The petitioner claimed media outlets widely broadcast the speech across the country.
Petition Cites Alleged Remarks
Consequently, the application argued the remarks harmed national institutions and public sentiments. It further requested legal proceedings under relevant sections of the law. However, the court has not yet announced any decision regarding the request.
The petitioner also alleged that Fazlur Rehman has consistently pursued politics driven by personal interests and power. Moreover, the application claimed his political positions changed according to changing circumstances.
Court Awaits Further Proceedings
It argued that he praised the military when allies remained in government. Conversely, the petition alleged he criticized the institution after losing political influence. The application described this conduct as politically motivated and inconsistent.
Therefore, the petitioner asked the court to direct authorities toward immediate legal action. Meanwhile, no official response from Maulana Fazlur Rehman or JUI-F was available following the petition.
Similarly, law enforcement authorities have not confirmed the registration of any criminal case. The matter will proceed according to the court’s legal process. Further developments are expected after judicial review of the application and related arguments.
