Pre-Orders Begin on June 25
Rockstar Games has announced that pre-sales for Grand Theft Auto VI will begin on June 25.
The announcement has created fresh excitement among gaming fans worldwide.
The game is scheduled for release on November 19. It will arrive after two delays and more than 13 years after the launch of Grand Theft Auto V.
Rockstar Games, owned by Take-Two Interactive, confirmed the pre-order date in a post on X. The company said pre-orders will be available on digital platforms and at selected retailers.
Rockstar also released the official cover art for the game. However, the company has not yet announced the final price.
GTA VI Expected to Launch at Premium Price
Industry analysts believe the base price of GTA VI could be around $80. The estimate is based on recent market reports and comments from Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick.
Some analysts and online discussions have suggested that the price could move closer to $100. If that happens, it may influence pricing trends across the gaming industry.
The Grand Theft Auto franchise has remained one of the most successful gaming brands in the world. It is also one of the most controversial due to its violent and adult themes.
Since its first release in 1997, the series has allowed players to explore large open-world cities while taking part in criminal storylines.
Vice City Returns With New Characters
The new game will return to Vice City, a fictional location inspired by Miami.
The story will follow a criminal couple, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Lucia will be the first playable female protagonist in the main franchise.
The previous game, Grand Theft Auto V, was released in 2013. It reached $1 billion in sales within three days, making it one of the fastest-selling entertainment products in history.
The game has now sold more than 230 million copies worldwide. It remains second only to Minecraft among the best-selling video games ever.
Despite huge expectations, GTA VI has also faced challenges during development. In 2022, unfinished footage was leaked online in one of the biggest leaks in gaming history.
Rockstar also faced criticism last year after firing several employees, with labour groups accusing the company of union-busting.
With pre-sales now set to begin, GTA VI is expected to become one of the biggest entertainment launches of the decade.
