Several people were injured after grenade explosions and bus fires occurred across Bangladesh’s capital, Dhaka. The incidents continued from Saturday evening until late at night, according to reports.
Grenades were thrown at different locations, while several buses were also set on fire. Police detained and arrested several people during operations conducted in different parts of the capital.
Security Tightened Across Dhaka
Following the explosions and arson incidents, Dhaka Metropolitan Police tightened security across the city. Police increased security from Saturday night as authorities launched operations to identify those responsible.
Vehicle searches continued throughout the night at around 200 checkpoints established across Dhaka. Moreover, police increased security on major roads, busy crossings and key entry points into the capital.
Police Continue Operations Against Suspects
Police searched vehicles considered suspicious during the security operation. Authorities also continued efforts to identify and arrest people allegedly involved in the grenade explosions and bus fires.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police said its operations remained ongoing across the city. Meanwhile, security personnel continued monitoring key locations to prevent further incidents and maintain public safety.
