The federal government has announced a public holiday on August 26, 2026. The holiday will mark Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).
The Cabinet Division issued an official notification on Friday, August 21. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the holiday for 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal 1448 AH.
According to the notification, government offices will observe the holiday nationwide. The decision follows the Cabinet Divisionโs earlier holiday schedule for 2026.
Holiday Announced Across Pakistan
The government confirmed August 26 as a public holiday across the country. Citizens will observe the occasion to commemorate the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The decision provides a nationwide holiday for the religious occasion. Government institutions and offices will follow the official holiday arrangements.
The Cabinet Division also directed authorities to publicise the notification widely. Officials will publish the announcement through major English and Urdu newspapers.

The government also instructed electronic media outlets to broadcast the holiday announcement. Authorities aim to ensure citizens receive timely information about the public holiday.
The announcement comes as part of the governmentโs approved holiday calendar. The Cabinet Division had previously issued a circular covering public and optional holidays.
Consequently, August 26 will remain a public holiday nationwide. Citizens will observe Eid Milad-un-Nabi through religious and commemorative activities.
The governmentโs notification formally confirms the holiday arrangements for the occasion. Further administrative instructions will follow the existing public holiday framework.
