In a significant bureaucratic restructuring, the federal government has implemented changes at senior levels, notably appointing a new Inspector General of Police (IGP) and Home Secretary in Islamabad.
Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi has assumed the position of the top police officer in the federal capital, succeeding Akbar Nasir Khan, as per an official notification issued by the Establishment Division on Friday.
Rizvi, previously serving as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Operations in Lahore, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Concurrently, the former IGP has been directed to report to the division, marking the end of his tenure in the position.
In a parallel move, the role of Home Secretary has been entrusted to Capt (retd) Khurram Agha, who transitions from his previous post as Commerce Secretary. Agha’s extensive background in trade affairs positions him well to undertake the responsibilities of the Home Secretary, ensuring smooth governance and security operations in Islamabad.
Additionally, the Interior Division’s Additional Secretary, Flt Lt (retd) Khushal Khan, has been reassigned to the Power Division, where he will serve as the Additional Secretary. This transfer underscores the government’s strategic realignment of administrative talent to various sectors, optimizing expertise to address key challenges and priorities.
These personnel adjustments signify the government’s commitment to enhancing efficiency and effectiveness within the bureaucracy, aligning key officials with roles that capitalize on their skills and experience. The appointments reflect a proactive approach to governance, aimed at fostering institutional resilience and responsiveness to evolving needs and circumstances.
As these new appointees assume their respective roles, they are expected to bring fresh perspectives and initiatives to their departments, contributing to the overarching goals of good governance, security, and socio-economic development. The reshuffle underscores the government’s dedication to fostering a dynamic and proficient administrative framework, capable of meeting the demands of a rapidly changing environment while serving the best interests of the nation.
