The government has announced a three-day public holiday across the country on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha following approval from the Prime Minister. Authorities issued the decision through an official notification released by the Cabinet Division, confirming the holiday schedule for public institutions and government offices.
According to the notification, the public holidays will be observed on May 26, 27, and 28, which fall on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. As a result, government employees and citizens will receive an extended break to observe the religious occasion and participate in Eid-related activities.
Meanwhile, authorities stated that the decision forms part of routine arrangements made for major religious events observed nationwide. The announcement also provides institutions and citizens with advance notice to prepare travel plans and family gatherings ahead of the celebrations.
HOLIDAY PERIOD TO APPLY NATIONWIDE
At the same time, officials confirmed that the approved holiday schedule will apply to government institutions throughout Pakistan. Ministries, departments, and public offices are expected to remain closed during the announced period in accordance with the directive.
Furthermore, the notification is expected to help public and private sectors finalize operational planning during the Eid period. Many people traditionally travel to their hometowns or gather with relatives and communities to celebrate the festival.
In addition, authorities often coordinate administrative arrangements during major holidays to facilitate public movement and ensure uninterrupted services in essential sectors. Relevant departments are also expected to issue separate instructions where necessary.
The latest announcement now formally outlines the holiday schedule and provides clarity regarding official operations during the Eid-ul-Adha celebrations.
