The Punjab government has officially approved an increase in the salaries of daily wage earners, marking a significant relief measure for thousands of workers across the province. The decision was formalized through a notification issued by the Lahore Deputy Commissioner (DC), instructing the immediate implementation of the revised wage structure.
According to the notification released by the Assistant Commissioner (HR), the new wage rates vary based on skill level. Skilled workers will now receive a daily wage of Rs1,975 and a corresponding monthly salary of Rs45,945.
Semi-skilled workersโ daily wage has been fixed at Rs1,558, with a monthly pay of Rs43,108, while unskilled (non-skilled) workers will now earn Rs1,538 per day, equivalent to Rs40,000 per month. These revised rates are applicable immediately and will cover all employees working under the provincial government and its related departments.
This move reflects the Punjab governmentโs proactive approach to supporting the labor force amid rising inflation and economic challenges. The increase aims to improve the living standards of daily wage earners who form the backbone of various public and private sector operations across the province.
Officials emphasized that the adjustment aligns with broader efforts to promote fair compensation, labor welfare, and social justice.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has repeatedly highlighted the importance of protecting low-income workers from the impacts of inflation, and this decision is seen as part of her administrationโs ongoing economic relief agenda. The government also plans to monitor the implementation of the new wage structure closely to ensure compliance across all departments.
With the updated pay scales now in effect, workers across Punjab are expected to experience tangible financial relief, contributing to improved morale and productivity in the provinceโs labor market.
