Google has released a new update for Android 16, addressing a persistent app crash bug reported by Pixel users. The fix comes just a week after the initial beta launch and aims to improve stability for apps that were failing to start.
Android 16 QPR3 Beta 1.1 Now Available
The Android 16 QPR3 Beta 1.1 update is available for all eligible Pixel devices, ranging from Pixel 6 to Pixel 10 models, including the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Most devices receive the update under build number CP11.251114.007, while the Pixel 7a uses build CP11.251114.004.A2.
The update is relatively small. For instance, the Pixel 10 Pro XL download is approximately 60MB, with similar sizes for other devices. Users enrolled in the beta programme should see the OTA (over-the-air) update notification on their phones. Alternatively, they can manually sideload the OTA or factory image if necessary.
Fixes Target Critical App Crashes
After the first beta release, many Pixel users reported that apps crashed immediately upon launch. Popular apps affected included Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, Outlook, Edge, and several banking applications. Google responded quickly by releasing Beta 1.1, which resolves many of these startup crashes.
Reddit users confirm that banking apps now generally function correctly. However, some Microsoft apps, including Teams and Edge, continue to experience occasional crashes. Clearing the system and app cache does not solve the issue for certain users.
Important User Advice for Beta Participants
Google strongly advises users not to exit the Android Beta programme after installing QPR3 Beta 1.1. Leaving the beta at this stage may lead to potential data corruption. Users should continue using the beta or wait for the stable release to avoid losing important data.
The update demonstrates Googleโs rapid response to user feedback and its commitment to improving the Android 16 experience before the end of 2025. With this patch, Pixel users should notice more stable app performance, fewer startup crashes, and smoother daily usage.
