Gold prices in Pakistan surged on Friday, October 9, as domestic rates followed gains in the international bullion market. The price of 24-karat gold increased by Rs. 5,900 per tola, reaching Rs. 440,936, according to the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA).
Similarly, the price of 24-karat gold per 10 grams rose by Rs. 5,058 to reach Rs. 378,031. Meanwhile, 22-karat gold traded at Rs. 346,541 per 10 grams, reflecting the upward movement in local bullion prices.
Silver Prices Also Increase in Local Market
Alongside gold, silver prices also recorded gains in Pakistan’s domestic market. The price of 24-karat silver increased by Rs. 144 per tola to reach Rs. 6,512.
Furthermore, the price of silver per 10 grams climbed by Rs. 123 to settle at Rs. 5,582. These increases followed a mixed trend in recent sessions, as gold and silver prices responded to changing international market conditions.
On Thursday, October 8, gold had gained Rs. 600 per tola, taking its price to Rs. 435,036. Therefore, Friday’s sharp increase marked a significantly larger daily rise in the domestic market.
Global Gold Market Supports Local Prices
Internationally, spot gold traded near $4,185 per ounce, gaining around $40.30, or 0.97%, compared with the previous session. The rise came as a weaker US dollar and falling Treasury yields improved the metal’s appeal among investors.
However, market participants continued to assess inflation concerns and the outlook for US Federal Reserve interest rates. These factors could influence global bullion prices and shape movements in Pakistan’s local gold market.
Since domestic gold rates closely follow international prices, further changes abroad may affect prices for Pakistani buyers. Consequently, consumers planning jewellery purchases may face higher costs following the latest increase.
