PWWF Scheme Offers Free Intermediate and BS Education
Government College University Lahore has announced 100% free education opportunities on 50 reserved seats for eligible industrial and mine workers and their children under a programme supported by the Punjab Workers Welfare Fund.
The opportunity covers selected Intermediate and BS programmes at GCU Lahoreโs Main Campus and Kala Shah Kaku Campus. A total of 20 seats have been reserved for Intermediate students, while another 30 seats are available across selected undergraduate programmes.
The scheme is aimed at helping eligible workersโ families gain access to higher education without bearing regular educational costs covered under the programme. PWWF already operates education and scholarship initiatives for eligible workers and their children across Punjab.
Students will still have to satisfy GCU Lahoreโs academic eligibility and merit requirements for their chosen programme. GCUโs current undergraduate admission rules generally require candidates to meet programme-specific academic criteria, including minimum marks and subject requirements where applicable.
20 Intermediate Seats Reserved at Main and KSK Campuses
A total of 20 Intermediate seats have been allocated under the initiative.
Five seats are available at GCU Lahoreโs Main Campus, while 15 seats have been reserved at the Kala Shah Kaku Campus.
The Intermediate programmes covered by the scheme include:
- Pre-Medical
- Pre-Engineering
- ICS/General Science
- I.Com
- Arts/Humanities
Each of these categories has one reserved seat at the Main Campus and three seats at the KSK Campus, bringing the total Intermediate allocation to 20 seats.
GCU Lahoreโs 2026 admissions information confirms that Intermediate programmes are being offered in Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering, ICS, I.Com, General Science and Arts categories.
Another 30 reserved seats have been allocated across 15 BS and related undergraduate programmes, with two seats available in each selected programme.
At the Main Campus, reserved seats are available in BS Botany, BS Gender and Climate Change, BS Persian, BS Philosophy, BS Punjabi and BS Turkish Language and Literature.
At the KSK Campus, students can apply for reserved seats in BS Art History, BS Disaster Management, BS Geography, BS Global Studies, B.Ed four-year programme, BS History, BS Islamic Studies, BS Physical Education and BS Remote Sensing and GIS.
Who Can Apply and What Is the Deadline?
The scheme is intended for eligible industrial workers, mine workers and their children who meet the conditions prescribed by the Punjab Workers Welfare Fund.
Applicants may be required to provide evidence relating to the workerโs employment, service history and registration with relevant institutions such as PESSI or EOBI, where applicable. Candidates should carefully check the current PWWF eligibility rules before submitting their applications.
Students must also qualify independently for admission to GCU Lahore. Receiving eligibility under the workersโ quota does not remove the universityโs academic and merit requirements.
Eligible candidates are required to complete the prescribed Nomination-cum-Admission Form and submit supporting educational, identity and worker-related documents according to the application instructions.
The announced deadline for applications is Friday, August 28, 2026. Candidates are therefore advised to prepare their documents early rather than waiting until the closing date.
The initiative provides eligible workers and their children an opportunity to pursue education at one of Punjabโs major public universities while reducing the financial burden of Intermediate and undergraduate studies.
