Gal Gadot’s future as Wonder Woman remains uncertain as DC Studios continues reshaping its superhero universe under co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran, leaving plans for a third solo film effectively on hold.
Gadot established Diana Prince as a major character through appearances in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League, Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984.
However, plans for Wonder Woman 3 changed significantly after Gunn and Safran took control of DC Studios in late 2022 and began developing a unified DC Universe.
Wonder Woman 3 Falls Outside New DCU Plans
Director Patty Jenkins had been developing another Wonder Woman instalment following Wonder Woman 1984. Nevertheless, the project failed to move forward after her proposed treatment did not fit the new leadership’s plans.
Gunn and Safran instead unveiled “Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters,” which included Paradise Lost, a series exploring Themyscira before Wonder Woman’s story.
Although Gadot suggested during interviews in 2023 that discussions about her DC future had taken place, subsequent trade reports said DC Studios was not actively developing a solo Wonder Woman 3 starring her.
Gadot Keeps Door Open While Pursuing Other Projects
Despite the uncertainty, Gadot has repeatedly expressed affection for Diana Prince and described playing Wonder Woman as an important part of her acting career.
Moreover, she has indicated that she remains open-minded about the character’s future while acknowledging that Wonder Woman ultimately belongs to the fans.
Meanwhile, Gadot continues pursuing projects outside the DC universe.
Her film work includes portraying the Evil Queen in Disney’s live-action Snow White and joining Oscar Isaac, Jason Momoa and Gerard Butler in In the Hand of Dante.
Additionally, following action projects including Red Notice and Heart of Stone, Gadot remains positioned for further major productions.
For now, however, DC Studios has not confirmed her return as Wonder Woman, leaving Diana Prince’s next big-screen incarnation unresolved.
