Fuel Supply Agreement
After suffering losses of Rs9 billion in 17 days, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Pakistan State Oil (PSO) have reached an agreement to address the fuel supply crisis.
A PIA spokesperson stated that the PSO management played a crucial role in facilitating the agreement, which will enable the supply of aviation fuel to the national flag carrier.

The agreement is expected to restore normal flight schedules, which had been disrupted for 17 days due to fuel scarcity. It marked the first instance, since Covid-19, of flight operations being halted for such an extended period. Over 500 domestic and international flights from various cities in Pakistan were canceled after the PSO reduced its fuel supply to PIA.
Now, PSO has committed to a daily fuel supply worth Rs10 billion to maintain flight operations. They have also increased PIA’s credit limit by an additional Rs5 billion.
The Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet approved a Rs8 billion bailout package for PIA.
