Financial Accounts and Digital Assets Reportedly Frozen
Dubai-based businessman Satish Sanpal is facing renewed legal scrutiny following reports that financial authorities in the United Arab Emirates have temporarily frozen assets linked to him.
Sanpal is the founder and chairman of ANAX Holding. He gained wider public attention through Netflixโs 2026 reality series Desi Bling. The programme follows the luxurious lives of wealthy Indian residents in Dubai.
According to Indian media reports, the UAE Financial Intelligence Unit ordered a temporary freeze on financial assets connected to Sanpal, his wife, Tabinda Sanpal, and several associated companies.
The reported directive applies to bank accounts, deposits, investments and digital wallets. Banks, financial institutions and virtual asset service providers were reportedly instructed to block access to the affected assets.
The companies named in media reports include ANAX Holding FZCO and other businesses linked to the couple.
The freeze is reportedly valid for 30 days. It may be extended if further authorisation is obtained during the investigation.
No detailed information has been released about the total value of the frozen assets. It also remains unclear whether any formal charges have been filed in the UAE.
Indian Betting Cases Return to the Spotlight
The reported UAE action has renewed attention on criminal cases registered against Sanpal in India.
Indian media reports say his name appears in several cases filed in Madhya Pradesh. Many of the cases relate to alleged online betting operations, gambling platforms and related financial activities.
One case followed an alleged Indian Premier League betting operation uncovered by Jabalpur police in 2022. Investigators claimed that suspects arrested during the operation identified Sanpal as one of the people who allegedly supplied betting links.
A separate case registered in February 2024 named Sanpal and four other people in an alleged online betting network. The case referred to betting platforms known as SAT SPORT and SKY EXCHANGE.
Sanpalโs lawyers have rejected allegations of wrongdoing. They maintain that the cases lack material evidence and are being challenged before the courts.
Media reports also say a Lookout Circular was issued against Sanpal in August 2022. Court proceedings have recorded that he had remained outside India while investigations continued.
Sanpal has not been convicted in the cases reported by Indian media. His legal representatives have also said he has received bail in most of the matters against him.
Complaint Seeks Investigation Into Alleged Illegal Funds
The latest controversy also involves a complaint seeking an investigation into alleged money laundering and illegal betting proceeds worth approximately โน1,000 crore.
The complainant alleged that betting funds were moved through shell companies. The complaint also called for an investigation by Indiaโs Enforcement Directorate.
It further claimed that Sanpalโs appearance on Desi Bling presented alleged illegal wealth as legitimate business success.
However, these remain allegations contained in a complaint. They have not been established through a final court judgment.
In May 2026, the Delhi High Court warned against presenting unproven allegations as confirmed facts. The court noted that claims involving โน1,000 crore, shell companies and money laundering did not appear in the referenced police reports or any judicial determination.
The court also stressed that criminal investigations were still underway and that the presumption of innocence must be respected.
At the time of reporting, no detailed public statement had been issued by UAE authorities explaining the reported asset freeze. Sanpal had also not publicly responded to the latest reports.
The case remains under scrutiny as authorities examine the reported financial links and ongoing legal proceedings.
