A French appeals court has confirmed that Achraf Hakimi will stand trial over an alleged rape case. The Paris Saint-Germain defender denies the accusations and maintains his innocence. However, authorities have not announced a date for the criminal trial.
Court Upholds Trial Decision
The case stems from allegations made by a 24-year-old woman in February 2023. She reported the alleged incident to police in the Val-de-Marne region near Paris. According to investigators, she claimed Hakimi raped her after inviting her to his home.
The woman said she first met the footballer through Instagram in January 2023. She alleged that Hakimi kissed and touched her without consent before the alleged rape. Furthermore, she claimed she escaped and contacted a friend, who later picked her up.
Hakimi Maintains Innocence
Following the ruling, Hakimi said he had awaited the trial since the beginning. He added that the proceedings would finally allow him to present his account publicly. Meanwhile, his lawyer, Fanny Colin, said the ruling does not establish guilt. She also stressed that Hakimi remains confident in his defence.
The plaintiff’s lawyer, Rachel-Flore Pardo, welcomed the court’s decision. She said the ruling brought her client relief and renewed hope. Speaking publicly for the first time, the woman used the pseudonym Jeanne in a Mediapart interview. She said she wanted the trial to defend herself and ensure her voice was heard.ย
Meanwhile, Hakimi continues representing Morocco, whose second 2026 World Cup match takes place against Scotland on Friday.
