ISLAMABAD: Pakistani citizens applying for a French Schengen visa have been advised to maintain strong financial records and carefully prepare all supporting documents, as financial credibility remains one of the most important factors in visa approval decisions.
According to diplomatic sources, applicants must clearly prove that they can independently manage all travel, accommodation, and living expenses during their stay in France and other Schengen countries. Consequently, the French Embassy in Islamabad closely examines every submitted document before issuing a final decision on visa applications.
Officials stated that embassy authorities review bank statements, employment details, tax records, travel schedules, and accommodation arrangements in detail to assess the applicantโs financial stability and travel intentions. In addition, applicants have been encouraged to apply well before their planned departure dates because visa processing usually takes between 15 and 20 days after the interview stage.
Required documents include a complete travel itinerary, proof of return tickets, employment contracts or tax records from the past two years, six months of bank statements, salary slips from the previous three months or pension certificates, hotel bookings or invitation letters, and valid health insurance accepted throughout Schengen countries.
Although French authorities have not officially announced a minimum bank balance requirement, they generally estimate daily expenses at approximately โฌ120 for travellers staying in hotels. However, applicants staying with hosts or in pre-arranged accommodation may need to show between โฌ65 and โฌ110 per day.
Based on these calculations, a traveller planning a 90-day stay in hotel accommodation may need to demonstrate financial resources exceeding โฌ10,800, or more than Rs3.5 million. Experts further noted that consistent income, active transactions, and stable banking activity significantly improve the likelihood of visa approval, while suspicious or inactive accounts may lead to rejection.
