The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has rejected reports claiming a 45% decline in CSS examination candidates. It described the reports as misleading and factually incorrect.
In an official statement, the Commission said recent media reports misinterpreted official data. Moreover, it stated that incorrect comparisons created a misleading impression about youth interest in the Central Superior Services (CSS) examinations.
FPSC Explains CSS Examination Data
The Commission said some reports compared data from 2022 and 2025 without proper context. Therefore, it released official figures to clarify the situation.
According to FPSC, 64,081 candidates registered for the 2025 Mandatory Preliminary Test (MPT). Furthermore, 18,139 candidates applied for the written examination, while 12,792 appeared.
The Commission said 354 candidates passed the written examination. Additionally, 342 candidates qualified after interviews, while 170 secured allocations in different civil services.
FPSC also noted that media reports overlooked the large number of MPT registrations. It said this omission created an incomplete picture of overall participation.
Commission Urges Accurate Reporting
The Commission also highlighted the Special CSS 2023 results. It said 141 candidates received allocations through the special recruitment process.
According to FPSC, the initiative benefited women, minorities, and candidates from underdeveloped areas. Consequently, it reinforced CSS as an important opportunity for aspiring civil servants.
The Commission urged media organizations and analysts to verify official data before publishing reports. Meanwhile, it reaffirmed that the CSS examination remains a major career goal for many young Pakistanis.
FPSC concluded that it remains committed to transparency and accuracy in its recruitment process.
