At least four passengers were killed and several others injured after all 15 coaches of the Rehman Baba Express derailed near Sher Shah Bridge in Multan early Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
According to Geo News, the accident occurred at approximately 5:15am while the train was travelling from Karachi to Peshawar. Rescue teams immediately launched operations to evacuate passengers trapped inside the damaged coaches.
The injured passengers were transported to Nishtar Hospital in Multan for medical treatment. Rescue officials reported that workers had cleared 13 coaches, while operations continued inside another coach. Authorities had yet to provide complete details about the injured passengers and the circumstances surrounding the fatalities.

A passenger reportedly claimed that workers had repaired the nuts and bolts of coach number nine near Rohri before the accident. However, authorities had not independently verified the claim or established any connection between the reported repair and the derailment.
The cause of the accident remains unknown, and Pakistan Railways is expected to provide further information as the investigation progresses.
The incident has renewed concerns about railway safety and maintenance in Pakistan, where previous derailments have also caused significant casualties.
