ISLAMABAD: Police have arrested four Islamabad police officers over their alleged involvement in an armed robbery at the residence of two Chinese nationals in the federal capital’s F-7/1 sector.
According to police officials, the suspects allegedly wore police uniforms and carried out the robbery with an accomplice. The gang reportedly stole Rs2 million in cash and a mobile phone worth Rs15,000.
Police registered a case under Section 395 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which deals with dacoity, and launched legal proceedings against the arrested officers.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the incident occurred at around 2:20am. A man wearing a police uniform entered the property and approached the servants’ quarters, where he woke up a security guard and a driver.
The suspect took them outside to a black Toyota Corolla fitted with a revolving police light. Four armed men were reportedly inside the vehicle, including three wearing police uniforms.
The suspects then entered the property with the guard and driver. They allegedly climbed into the house through a window, held the two Chinese nationals and two servants at gunpoint, and confined them to the drawing room before taking the cash.
A security guard later suspected that another guard had helped the robbers by opening the main gate.
Investigators reportedly used CCTV footage to identify the suspects and subsequently arrested the four police officers. Further legal proceedings are underway as the investigation continues.
The incident marks the fourth reported house robbery targeting Chinese nationals in Islamabad since August 29. In three cases, suspects allegedly disguised themselves as officials.
Last month, three serving Islamabad police officers were also identified as suspects in a separate robbery involving Chinese nationals in G-10/4, where armed men reportedly stole Rs8 million.
The latest arrests have raised fresh concerns about the security of foreign residents and accountability within the capital’s police force. The allegations against the arrested officers remain subject to investigation and legal proceedings.
