Terrorists attacked the Qazi Talab police check post in Hangu on Wednesday and martyred three policemen. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the City Police Station and created widespread alarm in the area. Officials confirmed that the assailants opened fire without warning and targeted the security personnel on duty. Police officers immediately returned fire and attempted to secure their position. The exchange of fire continued for several minutes and caused further injuries among the police team. Authorities reported that two additional policemen sustained injuries during the fierce gun battle.
Police Launch Search Operation
District Police Officer Khan Zaib Khan said the police responded with full force to repel the attackers. He confirmed that the bodies of the martyred officers were moved to the District Headquarters Hospital. Medical teams began treating the injured officers soon after their arrival.
Meanwhile, police reinforcements reached the site and cordoned off the entire area. The DPO stated that officers launched a search operation to locate the fleeing terrorists. He added that the security forces would continue the pursuit until the attackers face justice. Moreover, the checkpoint and surrounding routes remained under strict surveillance after the incident.
Provincial Leaders Condemn the Attack
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi strongly condemned the terrorist assault and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of three policemen. He said the KP police continue to fight terrorists with great courage and determination. He stressed that the sacrifices of the fallen officers will never go in vain.
Furthermore, he prayed for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks and wished a quick recovery for the injured personnel. KP Adviser for Information, Shafi Jan, also denounced the attack and called it a cowardly act. He stated that terrorists cannot weaken the nation’s resolve through violence. He reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to eliminating terrorism. He added that the government stands with the families of the martyrs during this difficult time. He said the nation will always honour the sacrifices of the police force.
