A property dispute in Karachi’s Malir area took a violent turn when a foreign woman, who had traveled from Japan, was shot and injured by her brother-in-law.
The victim, identified as Delia Alberto Nasir, is a Filipino national who had been living in Japan with her children. She arrived in Karachi on August 3, 2025, with the intention of securing possession of a property located in Millat Garden, which she said belonged to her late husband.
According to police officials, tensions escalated when Delia visited the property to assert her legal rights. Her brother-in-law, identified as Danish, allegedly opened fire during the confrontation. Bullets struck Delia in the leg and chest, causing serious injuries. She was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police confirmed that the suspect managed to obtain pre-arrest interim bail shortly after the incident and has since gone into hiding, evading further questioning. Law enforcement authorities have registered a case at Saudabad Police Station and have launched a search to apprehend him.
The dispute reportedly stemmed from an inheritance claim following the death of Delia’s husband. Family disagreements over property ownership are not uncommon in Pakistan, but in this case, the conflict escalated to life-threatening violence.
Relatives of the victim have expressed concern over her safety, as well as the slow pace of justice. Legal experts say that the case highlights ongoing challenges in Pakistan’s property dispute resolution system, where familial conflicts often lead to prolonged litigation and, in some cases, violence.
Police sources indicated that investigators are reviewing property ownership documents and statements from witnesses in the area to establish a clear timeline of events. They also confirmed that further legal action would depend on the findings of the ongoing inquiry and the eventual arrest of the suspect.
Delia, still recovering from her injuries, has vowed to pursue her case in court. She maintains that the property rightfully belongs to her as part of her late husband’s estate, and that she will continue to fight for justice despite the attack.
Authorities have urged both parties to cooperate with the investigation, stressing that disputes of this nature should be resolved through legal channels rather than violence.
