Technical Issues and Aircraft Shortage Impact Operations
Flight operations at Allama Iqbal International Airport faced major disruptions on Friday as technical difficulties and limited aircraft availability forced airlines to cancel and delay several services.
According to reports, at least nine flights were cancelled while seven others experienced delays, causing inconvenience for hundreds of passengers traveling on domestic and international routes.
Airport operations remained under pressure throughout the day as airlines adjusted schedules to manage the disruptions.
Meanwhile, travelers faced uncertainty as multiple departures and arrivals were either postponed or removed from flight schedules altogether.
Among the affected services was a two-way flight operated by Flydubai that was scheduled to arrive from Dubai and return to the UAE on the same day.
Additionally, an Airblue service from Lahore to Dubai was also cancelled, further affecting international passengers.
Officials attributed the disruption primarily to operational challenges and the reduced availability of aircraft.
Domestic and International Routes Among Those Affected
Several other flights connecting Lahore with regional and domestic destinations were also impacted.
Reports indicated that a flight scheduled to operate between Lahore and Mashhad was cancelled, while two services operated by Saudi Arabian Airlines between Jeddah and Lahore were also removed from the schedule.
Furthermore, domestic travel suffered setbacks as Air Sial cancelled a pair of flights operating between Lahore and Karachi.
Another domestic service arriving in Lahore from Islamabad was also cancelled, adding to the list of affected routes.
Consequently, passengers were advised to remain in contact with their respective airlines for updated travel information and revised schedules.
Airport authorities and airline operators continued efforts to minimize disruptions and restore normal operations.
Meanwhile, travelers expressed concern over the delays and cancellations, particularly those with connecting flights and time-sensitive travel plans.
The situation highlighted the challenges airlines face when technical issues coincide with limited fleet availability, resulting in significant operational disruptions across multiple destinations.
