Torrential rains and flash floods have forced the closure of the Astore Valley road. As a result, Astore district in Gilgit-Baltistan has lost its main land connection with the rest of the country.
Officials said floodwaters damaged several sections of the route. Consequently, authorities suspended all traffic on the road.

The road became blocked at multiple locations after heavy rainfall. Floodwaters washed over parts of the route and caused significant damage.
As a result, thousands of residents, travelers, and tourists remain stranded. Moreover, transportation activities across the district have come to a standstill.

Meanwhile, residents urged authorities to take immediate action. They called on the Gilgit-Baltistan government, district administration, and National Highway Authority to respond urgently.
They also requested the deployment of heavy machinery and additional workers. According to residents, emergency efforts are needed to reopen the route as quickly as possible.
