A college student and fishing content creator has gone viral after rescuing a stranded kitten from a tree in the middle of a river.
Carter Taylor, who occasionally shares fishing videos on TikTok through the account @Ctaylor.atx, was filming near a river on August 31 when he heard people talking about a cat trapped in the water.
Taylor immediately decided to help.
He left his fishing equipment on the riverbank, got into his kayak and paddled toward the tree where the kitten was reportedly stranded.
Kitten Cries Lead Rescuer to Tree
As Taylor moved closer to the tree, he began hearing the kitten’s cries.
He eventually spotted the tiny animal stranded among the branches above the water.
The kitten appeared unable to escape on its own.
Taylor carefully brought his kayak close enough for the kitten to reach the boat.
The frightened animal quickly jumped into the kayak.
What happened next turned the rescue into a heartwarming moment.
The kitten immediately climbed onto Taylor and stayed close to him.
The entire rescue was captured on Taylor’s head-mounted camera.
The footage was later shared online and quickly attracted widespread attention.
Kitten Finds a New Home
After bringing the kitten safely back to shore, Taylor contacted his partner and asked them to come and collect the animal.
The couple later named the kitten Lucky.
A follow-up video showed Lucky safely out of the water and adjusting to her new surroundings.
The kitten was taken to a veterinarian the following day for a complete medical examination.
She was also given antibiotics as part of her treatment.
After ensuring that Lucky was healthy and recovering, Taylor and his partner decided to adopt her permanently.
Lucky also received a warm welcome from another member of the household, a family pet named Rigley.
What began as an ordinary fishing trip ultimately became an unexpected animal rescue.
The kitten’s cries brought Taylor to the scene, and his decision to stop fishing and help gave Lucky a second chance.
The rescue has since captured the attention of viewers online, with many praising Taylor for taking immediate action to save the stranded animal.
