ISLAMABAD: The CFA Institute Research Challenge continued to showcase emerging financial talent as university students from around the world competed in the annual global competition focused on financial analysis and professional ethics. Each year the event brings together more than 6,000 students from over 1,150 universities across 100 countries, thereby providing participants with hands-on experience in equity research, valuation, report writing, and professional presentations.
Pakistani universities compete at national level to advance in global contest
At the national stage, a team from the Karachi School of Business and Leadership competed against strong academic institutions, including the National University of Sciences and Technology, the Lahore University of Management Sciences, and the Institute of Business Administration Karachi. Consequently the competition tested studentsโ analytical ability and financial judgment under real-world conditions. Teams prepared detailed equity research reports and presented investment recommendations before panels of experienced CFA charterholders, while judges assessed their research depth, valuation accuracy, and communication skills.
Regional success highlights milestone achievement for Pakistani institution
In the Southern Asia sub-regional round, the KSBL team finished as co-champion alongside the University of Kelaniya. According to organisers this achievement marked the first time in 18 years that a Pakistani university reached this position at that stage of the competition. Furthermore the undergraduate Accounting and Finance team advanced to the Asia-Pacific Regional Semi-Final, where it competed against institutions such as Nagoya University, Griffith University, and Assumption University Thailand. As a result KSBL recorded its eighth appearance at the national level and successfully progressed through multiple regional stages this year, reflecting consistent academic preparation and professional mentorship.
