ISLAMABAD: Fire broke out on the top of the Margalla Hills in front of Sector E-11 in Islamabad this morning. The incident prompted a swift response from rescue teams.
The blaze started in the range of Margalla Avenue and quickly spread across dry vegetation. However, the district administration responded rapidly and dispatched firefighters to the scene.
Margalla Hills fire brought under control
According to the district administration spokesperson, firefighters reached the affected area on foot due to the difficult terrain. Rescue teams worked continuously to contain the flames and prevent the fire from spreading further into the forested hills.
Meanwhile, officials confirmed that around 30 firefighters from the Environment Directorate participated in the operation. As a result of the coordinated effort, authorities managed to bring the fire under control within a short time. Rescue teams fully contained the blaze at approximately 4:15 am. Subsequently, officials began the cooling process to eliminate remaining hotspots and prevent the fire from reigniting.
Authorities continue to monitor the affected area closely. Furthermore, officials urged residents to remain cautious and report any signs of smoke or fire immediately.
Rawalpindi plaza basement blaze contained after long operation
In a separate incident, a fire erupted in the basement of a plaza in Rawalpindi, where a warehouse was located. The blaze caused heavy smoke inside the building and created a challenging situation for firefighters.
Rescue teams launched a large-scale operation involving 13 rescue vehicles and more than 50 volunteers. Firefighters also broke into the basement at two locations to access the flames. In addition, they created an opening in the basement roof to release the trapped smoke.
After nearly 15 hours of continuous efforts, rescue teams successfully brought the fire under control. The cooling process remains underway to ensure complete safety.
