A massive fire broke out at Firdous Shopping Center in Karachi on Wednesday. Officials said an electrical short circuit caused the blaze.
The shopping centre is located in Karachiโs Liaquatabad area. Rescue 1122 teams reached the site soon after receiving the emergency call.
Rescue Teams Bring Blaze Under Control
A Rescue 1122 spokesperson confirmed that firefighters successfully contained the fire. Meanwhile, rescue officials continued cooling operations to prevent the flames from reigniting.
Fortunately, authorities reported no casualties or injuries in the incident. Officials have not disclosed the extent of property damage.
Emergency responders remained at the scene to monitor the situation. They also ensured the area was safe before concluding operations.
Gul Plaza Fire Investigation Declared Accidental
The incident comes days after developments in the Gul Plaza fire investigation. On June 29, police submitted their investigation report and challan to the prosecution.
The report declared the deadly Gul Plaza fire an accidental incident. The blaze had claimed 72 lives.
According to investigators, the Punjab Forensic Laboratory found no evidence of explosive material. Therefore, authorities ruled out sabotage as the cause of the fire.
Police also nominated six suspects for alleged negligence and dereliction of duty. The suspects include a shopkeeper and his 11-year-old son.
Meanwhile, all nominated suspects have been declared absconders. Authorities continue legal proceedings in the case.
