Police have registered a first information report (FIR) against unidentified suspects for the killing of a member of the Ahmadi community in Punjab’s Mandi Bahauddin district. Authorities also included provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act in the case.
The FIR was filed at the City Police Station on a complaint submitted by the victim’s son. Police have since launched an investigation to identify and arrest those responsible.
Victim Found Dead Near Motorcycle
According to the FIR, the incident occurred at 6:42pm on Wednesday near Eidgah Road. Police records show the crime scene was located northeast of the City Police Station.
The complainant told police that he was attending to his mother-in-law at a hospital. During that time, an employee from his workshop informed him that his father had been shot.
He immediately rushed to the scene after receiving the call. However, he found his father dead beside his motorcycle upon arrival.
The FIR stated that the victim regularly travelled by motorcycle from his workshop to a place of worship. He reportedly followed the same route daily to offer prayers.
Anti-Terrorism Charges Included in Case
The complainant told investigators that his father had no known personal disputes. Furthermore, he said no family member had any enmity with anyone.
He alleged that the killing appeared to be a targeted attack aimed at creating fear within the minority community. Consequently, police added anti-terrorism provisions to the case.
Authorities registered the FIR under Sections 302 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code. In addition, they included Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Police continue gathering evidence and reviewing all available leads. Meanwhile, investigators are working to determine the motive behind the killing and identify the attackers.
