WAH: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, visited the Pakistan Ordnance Factory (POF) in Wah to review its defence production capabilities and modernisation efforts.
The visit focused on POF’s manufacturing capacity, export potential and contribution to Pakistan’s defence industrial base.
COAS Reviews Indigenous Defence Production
During the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir received a detailed briefing on POF’s operations and production facilities.
Officials briefed him on the factory’s role in strengthening national defence through the indigenous development and manufacturing of military equipment, arms and ammunition.
The Field Marshal also witnessed tests and trials of locally designed and manufactured weapons and ammunition.
The demonstrations highlighted ongoing efforts to improve innovation, self-reliance and domestic defence production capabilities.
POF Corporatisation and New Industrial Plants
Field Marshal Asim Munir was also briefed on progress regarding the corporatisation of POF following the enactment of the DIPRA Ordinance.
Officials provided an overview of ongoing indigenisation and modernisation initiatives at the defence complex.
Two new industrial plants are currently being installed at POF. According to officials, the facilities are expected to begin production by the end of the current year.
The projects are aimed at expanding manufacturing capacity and supporting the development of modern defence technologies.
Focus on Defence Exports and Self-Reliance
The visit also highlighted POF’s potential to increase defence exports and strengthen Pakistan’s position in the international defence market.
