The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration has offloaded a passenger at Lahore Airport after discovering alleged alterations to his Cyprus study visa. The passenger was attempting to travel abroad when immigration officials identified irregularities during a detailed examination of his travel documents.
The passenger, identified as Zain-ul-Abideen, son of Riaz Ahmed, was scheduled to travel to Cyprus aboard Qatar Airways flight QR-621. Officials detected the suspected tampering while checking his documents at the immigration counter.
Passenger Handed Over for Further Investigation
During preliminary questioning, the passenger reportedly told investigators that he had obtained the study visa through an agent. Officials subsequently stopped him from travelling and initiated further proceedings to establish the circumstances surrounding the suspected document alteration.
The FIA then handed the passenger over to its Anti-Human Trafficking Circle in Lahore for further investigation and legal action. Investigators will examine the visa and seek additional details about the agent allegedly involved in arranging the travel documents.
Authorities are continuing efforts to identify individuals involved in fraudulent documentation and illegal migration. Such investigations aim to establish responsibility and prevent the misuse of official travel documents.
FIA Steps Up Action Against Visa Fraud
The incident highlights the importance of verifying travel documents before international departures. Immigration officials examine passports, visas and other required paperwork to identify suspected fraud and irregularities.
Furthermore, authorities have repeatedly warned travellers to exercise caution when using agents to arrange overseas travel. Applicants should verify visa details through the relevant authorities and avoid relying on unverified intermediaries.
The FIA’s investigation will determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged tampering and whether other individuals played a role. Further legal proceedings will follow as officials examine the evidence and establish the facts of the case.
