The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Corruption Cell in Islamabad has registered a case against Najaf Hameed, the brother of former DG ISI Faiz Hameed, ARY News reported on Monday. The case also names Abdul Zahoor and Khalid Munir as accused.
According to the complaint, the case concerns the alleged transfer of land using forged documents. At the time of the alleged wrongdoing, Najaf Hameed was serving as a patwari (land record officer) in Islamabad.
The FIA initiated the case after completing a preliminary inquiry, indicating that sufficient grounds existed to pursue formal legal action. Investigators are examining the documents and transactions involved, as well as the roles of the co-accused, to build a detailed case.
This development follows the December sentencing of former ISI chief Faiz Hameed. He was handed 14 years of rigorous imprisonment for engaging in political activities, violating the Official Secrets Act, misuse of authority, and causing wrongful loss to individuals.
The sentencing came after a lengthy Field General Court Martial process initiated on August 12, 2024, under provisions of the Pakistan Army Act. According to the ISPR, Hameed was tried on four charges, all of which were proven in the court, culminating in the 14-year sentence promulgated on December 11, 2025.
The FIA case against Najaf Hameed highlights ongoing scrutiny of the Hameed family in relation to alleged corruption and misuse of authority.
Authorities are expected to follow legal procedures thoroughly, ensuring all accused are afforded due process while investigating the validity of the land transfer and related allegations. Observers note that the proceedings may have broader implications for governance and accountability in public offices.
The investigation is currently ongoing, with the FIA collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, and assessing the involvement of all parties. The case underscores Pakistan’s continued efforts to combat corruption and uphold the rule of law, particularly in matters involving former high-ranking officials and their associates.
