ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has concluded its inquiry into Sabir Hameed, also known as Mithu, a close relative of former army chief Gen (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa. The inquiry was related to suspicious transactions, and it has resulted in a clean chit for Hameed.
The FIA has closed the inquiry after finding no evidence to support the allegations made against the prominent businessman by his opponents. Sabir Hameed, who is associated with a significant property business, cooperated with FIA investigators by providing them with various documents, including tax returns up to the financial year 2022, bank statements, details of domestic and foreign properties, information about vehicles, offshore companies, and more.

According to sources close to Hameed, he was summoned by the FIA for the first time on October 23. They emphasized that he is a hardworking Pakistani engaged in transparent business practices, and the allegations against him were baseless and meant to tarnish his reputation. The FIA conducted a thorough investigation and found the allegations to be without merit.
The letter cited in the report indicates that Sabir Hameed maintained 19 bank accounts, including 14 local and 5 foreign ones, with a total credit turnover of Rs5.34 billion. He was required to present various documents, including tax returns and declarations from 2016 to 2023, a list of countries he visited, information about offshore or shell companies, and details of national and international assets, as well as those of his family members.
The FIA also sought information regarding foreign currency purchases and any foreign currency taken out of Pakistan by him, his spouse, or family members.
