Suspects Caught During Attempted Illegal Entry into Pakistan
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Balochistan Zone has arrested two individuals, including a foreign national, on charges of visa fraud and human trafficking. The arrests took place during a targeted operation by the FIA Composite Circle Gwadar, according to an official spokesperson.
The individuals have been identified as Joseph, a Nigerian citizen, and Mehmood Khan, a local Pakistani agent. Both were detained as they attempted to enter Gwadar through illegal means.
According to the FIA, Joseph had initially entered Pakistan in 2023, but later illegally crossed into Iran. After spending nearly a year in Iran, he attempted to re-enter Pakistan without proper documentation. In a bid to facilitate his return, he reportedly contacted Mehmood Khan, who agreed to help him cross the border illegally in exchange for Rs30,000. Of that amount, Rs11,000 was paid in advance.
The arrests were made as the two tried to enter Pakistani territory near Gwadar. FIA officials stated that the operation was conducted following credible intelligence and surveillance. A formal investigation into the case has been launched to determine the full scope of the alleged human trafficking network.
FIA Cracks Down on Cross-Border Trafficking Activities
The FIA emphasized its continued commitment to combating illegal immigration, human smuggling, and cross-border trafficking networks, particularly in sensitive regions like Gwadar, which has become a focal point due to its strategic location.
Authorities are now investigating possible links to wider trafficking rings and any additional individuals who may have assisted in the illegal operation. More arrests may follow as the inquiry progresses.
