Accused Nabbed in Sheikhupura; Separate Fake Iqama Attempt Foiled at Multan Airport
SHEIKHUPURA: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a man allegedly involved in human smuggling and visa fraud operations, officials said Saturday.
The suspect, identified as Naveed, was apprehended in Sheikhupura. According to investigators, he had been collecting large sums of money from individuals by falsely promising overseas employment opportunities.
In one case, Naveed allegedly defrauded a citizen of Rs1.2 million by claiming he could arrange travel and work in Greece.
In a separate incident last month, FIA’s Immigration Unit at Multan Airport intercepted a passenger attempting to travel abroad using fake documents.
The passenger, identified as Muhammad Muzammil, was scheduled to fly to Sharjah on flight PA-812. During routine immigration checks, officials discovered that the iqama (residency permit) he presented was fraudulent.
He also failed to produce the mandatory protector documentation required for legal overseas employment.
Muzammil was immediately offloaded and handed over to the FIA’s Anti-Human Trafficking Circle for further investigation.
