Police Probe Alleged Social Media Trap Targeting Driver
The investigation into the killing of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Abdullah Tahir has taken a new turn after police detained a female TikToker.
The Faisalabad-based social media personality was arrested from Sialkot, according to police sources.
Investigators allege that she was used to lure the slain political leader’s driver as part of a wider plan connected to the killing.
Abdullah Tahir was killed several days earlier in Lahore’s Ghalib Market area.
Police are now examining whether the alleged social media trap played a role in planning or facilitating the attack.
According to investigators, two women were allegedly involved in assisting people linked to the operation.
The precise role of each detained woman is still being investigated, and no court has established their guilt.
Second Woman Detained as Police Examine Digital Evidence
Police have also detained another woman who is suspected of assisting those involved in the alleged operation.
Investigators said the second woman is proficient in the Pashto language.
Authorities are examining whether her language skills or online activity were used to communicate with other individuals connected to the case.
Police sources said important information had been obtained from the social media accounts of both women.
Investigators are now analysing their online communications, contacts and activity before and after Tahir’s killing.
Deleted information from the mobile phones of both detainees is also being recovered.
Digital forensic specialists may examine messages, call records, location information and social media activity to establish possible connections between the detained women and other suspects.
Police believe the digital evidence could help establish how the alleged operation was planned and identify other individuals who may have participated.
